Mohs Surgery

Fellowship Trained Mohs Surgeons, such as Dr. Smith, have done extensive training in Dermatopathology during their Residency and Fellowship allowing us to read the slides in the office while you wait.

Being able to have your surgery done in one location, without the risks of general anesthesia, with the highest possible cure rates we consider a great advantage for our patients!

Mohs Surgery is named after Dr. Frederic Mohs who invented this specialized technique. What makes it so effective is the ability to assess the complete margin of the specimen we remove. This is recognized by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network as the treatment of choice for many Basal cell and Squamous Cell carcinomas of the skin on the head and neck. This technique can be used in other types of rarer skin cancer as well.
